SEPTEMBER 2019

Lithe elegant creature
wearing a metallic green gown
early morning runway beauty

Delicate layers
mark the end of another day
delicious sorbet sky

Merely a pest to some
yet what a delight
to find a solitary survivor
having escaped the clever fingers
of the night time raiders
raccoons leave no stone unturned
no planter dug up
no fishpond torn to bits
pieces of waterlily leaves
floating on the still water
endearing faces for sure
but oh the havoc they create
under cover of night
all in their search of tasty morsels

Painted ladies
dancing in tandem
sipping deeply
savoring blooming savory

During the dry season
we have to make our own rain
our garden gratefully
absorbs every glistening drop

***

A flurry of Elfje

Suddenly
rather shocking
taken by surprise
how could this happen
HEART ATTACK

Pale
lying silently
attached to hoses
batteries of blinking lights
RECOVERING

Cautious
first steps
taken very slowly
pale but yet determined
WALKING

Rosy
color returning
eyes are twinkling
he returns to us
HEALING

***
Slowly
one
poem
then two
words are flowing
getting my groove back
***
Smoke
curls
lazily
drifting down
into the garden
peaceful gilded autumn morning
***
Flock of sparrows
splashing in the fountain
morning bath
***
Stolen moments
under cover of darkness
pre-dawn solitude
***
Sweet scent of petrichor
fierce pounding on the roof
first autumn rain
***
Three loads of laundry
freshly baked muffins
getting my groove back
