SEPTEMBER 2018

Eager eyes follow the finger
while quietly reading
in the sun dabbled garden
life doesn't get any better
blessed silence only broken
by the hum of bees and birdsong
high up in a pale blue sky
red tail hawk calls again and again

Fire Season
*
Blurred burnished sky
those aren't tears
smoke got in my eyes

Flying along the winding road
monetesque scenery
flashes briefly past the window
who knew this outing would offer
such splendid artwork along the way

Late summer these green jaws
suddenly open wide
revealing delicate golden stars
unfurling from their throats
eager to bath in the warm autumn sun

We all look up at the same moon
why can we not look at each
other with peace in our hearts

***

Rising Mabon moon
caught in celestial webs
season's wheel turning
cool nights golden days
breathing in autumn serenity
